- Photographs of Australian Council of Trade Union officials and activities
- Waterside Workers' Federation photographs of union officials, protests and working conditions
Only a small percentage have been digitised and are available to view at ANU's Digital Collections . Our guidelines for entering metadata for items are here.
The ANU Archives collection is particularly strong on images of the ANU campus in the 1950s and 1960s when many of the major buildings such as University House and the Menzies Library were constructed. There are many photographs of ceremonial occasions, starting with the laying of the foundation stones for the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the Research School of Physical Sciences by Prime Minister Ben Chifley in 1949. There are also photographs of staff, students and visitors to the University; most of these are black and white and were taken for the ANU News and later the ANU Reporter. Some photographs from the collection are available in the University's Digital Collections.
