Accessing ANU email
ANU Email Addresses
ANU email addresses are created automatically for all students and staff when they join the University. ANU email accounts are in the form of u1234567@anu.edu.au, and are the official email contact address for staff and students. All staff also receive a full name alias (firstname. lastname). For more information visit Staff email addresses.
The University will use this address to send you official correspondence. Please check your ANU email account regularly, or forward your ANU email to an address that you do check regularly.
Web-based Email
You can normally access your ANU email account from any computer connected to the internet using the ANU Mail website. To log into this website, use your UniID and password.
You can also re-direct your ANU emails to other web-based email such as Hotmail or Yahoo. You will, however, consume part of your web quota when you access your ANU email via another service from an Information Commons computer.

Desktop Email Applications

NOTE: anumail.anu.edu.au is not to be used for outgoing email settings. Emails will not be sent if this setting is used.

Email Quarantine System
The Email Quarantine System automatically filters a great deal of spam sent to ANU email addresses. A spam filtering program analyses the content of the message and scores it against a set of rules. Messages scored with a high probability of being spam are placed in a quarantine area and not delivered to your Inbox. The quarantine system allows you to see which messages have been filtered. You can also allow or block particular email addresses or request a daily report of quarantined emails to be sent to you.
