Information Services@ANU > ESP Upgrade ESP UpgradeIssuesIf you cannot connect to ESP, and you are not an area which has its desktops managed by DOI, first of all try opening this file. If that works, go back to the web page that just opened and alternate click on the download link (next to the words Attachment Data) and choose Save Target As or Save Link As and then save the file to your computer, perhaps on your desktop or in your documents folder. Then next time you can double-click on this file to launch ESP. If you are ever asked whether the application should be able to access your hard drive, please allow full access or you will not be able to download reports. If you are an area that has its desktops managed by DOI and you are having issues connecting then creating a new shortcut might help: 1. Open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\ESP RDP Client\. If found this folder then go to step three, otherwise... 2. Open a search window (which should be at Start, Search, For Files or Folders) then search your local drive for conman.exe (seriously, its short for Connection Manager) 3. Double-click conman and you should get a window like this:
4. Delete the ESP connection that is there (click on it then click the Delete button in the toolbar) and from the File menu, select New Connection 5. The Client Connection Manager Wizard will start, click Next to continue 6. Enter in a connection name (e.g. ESP Production) and a Server name of ESPPROD.ANU.EDU.AU, then click Next two times:
7. Choose what size you want the screen to be, 800 x 600 is a good place to start. If an option is greyed out, it means it will be too big to display on your monitor:
8. Click Next four times, then click Finish. Now double-click the new connection and see if the screen size fits your monitor. If it is too big or too small, alternate click on the connection and select Properties, then select the Connection Options tab, and select a new Screen area size. You probably had a shortcut to launch ESP, so to create a new one, alternate-click on the new icon and select Create Shortcut on Desktop. You can now move this to where you kept your previous shortcut, or if you use the Office toolbar, click and drag it on to the toolbar. What's happening? The systems that support the ESP applications has been progressively upgraded over the last few years, to maintain system reliability and compliance with IT good practice and audit requirements. As part of this, we need to upgrade the domain that houses the ESP equipment, from the current ANUB domain, to the new Enterprise Systems (ES) domain. This is scheduled to occur on the weekend of 9-11 March 2007. What does this mean to me?Not a lot will change, the way you navigate, the applications you can access and how things look will be very similar to the way it is now. HR and Student21 The most obvious change is that when logging onto ESP using Citrix ICA or Microsoft RDP client, the bottom field (currently labeled "Domain", changing to "Log on to") will now be ES:
The user name and password you use to access ESP will not change during the changeover weekend; you will still use your University ID, and the password you had before that weekend. If you have forgotton that password, you can get it reset by calling the DOI Helpdesk on x59666. Note that if your username appears like ANUB\U1234567, then remove the ANUB\ from the start, and check that the Log on to entry is still showing ES. If you cannot see a Log on to box, click on the Options button. During the conversion your favourites might be lost so backing them up a good idea. We do recommend you back up your favourites regularly, or at least every time you make a change to them. This can be done by clicking on Start, Programs, 9. Utilities, Manage ESP Favourites. Your current favourites should be highlighted. You can see previous backup copies of your favourites by clicking on the numbers in the tree in the left hand side of the window. To make a backup copy of your favourites:

If nothing is changing why tell me about this?As part of the equipment change and increasing security, the address you go to login will be changing. Currently it is esp1.anu.edu.au for Citrix ICA and esp3.anu.edu.au for Microsoft RDP, from this weekend the only location will be espprod.anu.edu.au. We've set things up so your current shortcuts should get still get you to the logon prompt but if you have any issues, we've also created some configuration files that you can save to your computer and use instead. For Citrix ICA users, you can use this file, for Microsoft RDP users, this file is what you need. If you are unsure which one to use, try the Citrix ICA file first. Download either of these to a convenient place on your computer and double-clicking on them will launch the application and take you to the correct logon page. Changing the configuration of your current shortcut is best left to your LITSS, but the settings for this are here. |
