Who is responsible for making decisions about information services at ANU and
how are these decisions made?
The University’s information services are diverse and they are relied upon by
many people throughout the ANU community. As such, decisions about their
management and operation are guided and advised by a number of specialised
committees that receive input from representatives across the University.
The University Information Strategy Committee (UISC) has responsibility for
the University’s information services. The aim of this committee is to ensure
that the central roles of learning, teaching, research, and administration are
supported by coherent, cohesive and ubiquitous information services. The UISC is
advised by four Assurance Advisory Committees (AAC). These committees focus on
specialised areas in the field of information services, and as such are able to
provide expert advice to the UISC.
They include:
- The Academic Systems AAC (research information services, education
information services, including
- learning environments
- and repositories)
- The Scholarly Collections AAC (in effect, the existing network of Library
Advisory Committees overseeing University Libraries, collection management,
access, literacy)
- The Administrative Systems AAC (enterprise systems, web based business
solutions and related services)
- The Infrastructure AAC (networks, storage, servers, desktop environments,
and related services).
Each of these committees review plans, anticipate the impact of change, and
seek to ensure the timely development of knowledge and skills in their
respective areas of expertise.
