Every document that pertains to University business is a Record, from financial statements to personnel files, and ANU is subject to a body of administrative law dealing with the control of records that must be observed by all employees of the University.

Here are some quick tips to make it easier to manage official records:

  • When you are issued an official file, University Records will write your name, work area and date of issue on the front cover. When you are finished with the file, you need to initial and date these fields on the cover.
  • When you send personnel papers to University Records, please write the UniID of the person that they refer to on the top of the page.
  • Please send information relating to scholarships and other payments to students to Student Records, Division of Registrar and Student Services, Building 11. University Records does not manage these files.
  • When you send papers relating to different staff please keep each staff member’s documents separate. In particular, do not staple documents belonging to different staff members together.
