ANU Photography Services

ANU Photography provides an extensive range of photographic and related services for the broader University community.

These include:

Original Photography

We provide high quality photographs on all film types in formats ranging from 35mm to 4"x5" sheet film, as well as in professional quality Digital format, to suit publication and display needs in the following areas:

Artwork - including ceramics, glassware, painting, sculpture, textiles and installation work
Illustrative – location/landscape and studio/product work for brochures, publicity, etc.
Industrial/Architectural – for design and/or publication
Portraiture – ranging from Informal to Executive, both on location and in our studio
Public Relations – events coverage, etc.
Scientific – employing specialised techniques such as Macro, Micro, Polarized and UV Fluorescent

Digital Services

In addition to a Professional quality Digital Camera System the unit employs two high end dedicated Film Scanners. The first of these is a 35mm specific, high resolution-high throughput film scanner and the second is a twin plate scanner which caters for film sizes up to 8”x10”.

All scanning can be done to a wide range of resolutions, output sizes and formats depending on client requirements.
Digital files can then be burnt to standard CD, Archive Gold CD or to DVD.

The unit’s staff have extensive Photoshop experience and can undertake a wide range of image restoration and retouching.

Laboratory Services

B&W Film Processing – specialising in Hand Processing to specific requirements
B&W Printing – specialising in hand crafted prints for publication and research purposes with emphasis on satisfying specific requirements
Colour Slide (E6) Processing – professional quality for all Slide film types, including modified processing (excludes Kodachrome)
Colour Processing & Printing – Agent for Professional Quality Colour Print Laboratory, offering a broad range of associated services eg. Prints from slides and High resolution scans output to photographic quality paper
Copy Negatives – Archival quality medium & large format B&W & Colour negatives from a diverse range of original types including photos, slides, journals, scientific gels & radiographs, positive microfilm etc.
Copy Slides – from a wide range of original materials for lecture and reproduction use, including Slide to Slide Duplicates, colour corrected and masked

Other Services:

Advisory/Teaching Service – we are formally qualified with extensive experience and can advise on use of photography in a variety of applications such as teaching and research and for postgraduate students in their fieldwork
Film Sales – for general use and field trips at reasonable rates
Finishing – print mounting and Matt cutting for display purposes

Procedures:

All work carried out needs to be accompanied by an ANU Photography Jobsheet (pdf), which must include an Internal Budget Code and an Authorised Signature to release funds from that account.

Non-Budget Code work is also undertaken and payment can be made by Cash, Cheque and Credit Card (excluding Amex and Diners).
