Printing in the Information Commons

Every student is provided with a modest printing quota twice a year. You are able to print in all Information Commons computing facilities; if you use up all of your printing quota you are able to purchase more at a cost of 5 cents per page single-sided or 7 cents per page double-sided printing.

There are two easy ways to stretch your quota.

1. Choose duplex (sometimes called double-sided or two-sided) printing. While the printers are default set to single-sided printing, you can opt for double-sided. It saves trees; it saves printing quota. To set your printing job on double-sided, go to the print menu and:

For Mac:
Choose Layout from the drop-down menu and select Long-Edge Binding.

For PC:
Choose Properties from the Print dialogue box and select Long Edge under Duplex.

2. You can also print more than one page per sheet. Go to the print menu and:

For Mac:
Choose Layout from the drop-down menu and select 2 from the Pages per Sheet drop-down menu.

For PC:
Select 2 pages from the Pages per Sheet drop-down menu.

For assistance, see a consultant at Ask ANU in the Chifley Library building.

Specialist Printing

Colour, A3, and transparency printing are also available in the Information Commons in select locations. Please be aware that specialist printing uses far more quota than black and white printing.
