How to Use the ANU Staff Directory

The Staff Directory searches all entries in the ANU Telephone Directory and also the person's email alias if it is accessible. Please contact the ANU switchboard, phone (02) 6125 5111, for further information about the ANU Staff Directory or to report problems.

If your entry is incorrect, enter your first name and last name in the search box so that your entry is displayed.  Click on the "Make Changes" button below. You will be directed to the Division of Information HelpDesk login page. Login by entering your University ID and your ANUBIS password and follow these steps:

  1. Click the "Register a Request" tab.
  2. Click the drop arrow in "Topic" and select "Phone".
  3. Click the drop arrow in the selection box directly under "Topic" and select "Directory".

Please ensure that you enter ALL details.
The required entry field entitled "Category should be set to "All other Support".

This data is then manually entered into the system (to allow for checking), so changes may take several days to appear.

Points to Note

  • The ANU Staff directory can be searched either by first name, last name or part of either first/last name, e.g. d smith, smith d,
dav smith... would find david smith. (middle initials are not used for searching)
  • A search on phone number is available at the Phone Home page. Other search keys will be added later.
  • Searches are case insensitive - smith, SMITH and smITh are all identical.
  • Searches match the beginning of words, e.g. john matches john, johnston, johnson but not miklejohn.
  • The wildcard character * matches multiple characters, e.g. *kin would match aitkin, jenkin ...
  • All searches add '*' to the end of each word in the search, e.g. d smith is treated as d* smith*.
  • Do not use special characters (e.g. #@,.?) other than the * wildcard.
  • Items are sorted by first name within last name.
  • If one or two items are returned from the search, the full contact information is displayed. If more than two items are returned, then only one line of information per person is returned. It is then necessary to drill down to obtain full contact information for one person and to access the "Make Changes" button.
