ESP Unix Installation Information

Because there are many Unix flavours, the clients for Unix have not been modified specifically for ESP usage. This section describes the process of modifying the Unix clients for ESP.

  1. Download the appropriate Unix client from the ESP web site.
  2. Uncompress and install the ESP client software. This should be done under an administrative user account.
  3. If your default installation directory is not ‘/usr/lib/ICA Client/wfcmgr’ then ensure that the ICAROOT environment variable points to the directory where the client was installed.
  4. As a specific user, execute the wfcmgr program. Set the following settings:
    - server browser address to be esp1.anu.edu.au
    - create a new connection called ‘ESP’ that connects to the published
    - application ‘ESP’
    - specify a location for the C: drive mapping.
  5. You may want to create a shortcut to the new ‘ESP’ connection. This will depend on your graphical environment or shell.

Note: Due to the way ESP is configured, the ESP client cannot be run in seamless mode. Please ensure all clients are set to run within a window. We recommend this be set to 90% of screen size.
