Backbone Network

  • Redundant optical fibre mesh
  • 7 Core switch/routers – Cisco 6513 & 6509
  • Gbps Ethernet, 10Gbps capable

Access Network

  • Optical fibre to distribution switches, fibre or UTP to edge switches
  • 403 Ethernet switches – HP4000, 4108 & 2650
  • 19,800 allocated ports @ 100Mbps on Cat5e
  • Disaster Recovery point-to-multipoint overlay microwave radio @ 60Mbps
  • Wireless LAN overlay

Voice Service

  • Full IP telephony – dual redundant Linux voice servers at 4 sites – Avaya
  • 10,000 services; 8,500 Acton;  4,000 IP handsets; 34 analogue/IP gateways
  • Dual redundant Carrier access to AAPT
  • Emergency voice service overlay – 1,000 services

WAN

  • GigE or FastE to 5 remote sites – optical fibre, microwave radio + satellite, Carrier
  • MSO, SSO, 6 x Canberra, Melbourne, Kioloa, Warramunga NT, NARU (Darwin)
  • Access to AARNet 3 Regional Network;  future requirement to SE NSW
