University Records
Finished with a file?
Files are the property of ANU and are stored in various locations around campus and Canberra; because you no longer need a file does not mean that it ceases to be of value.
Files provide evidence of ANU's business activities and must be managed in accordance with the Archives Act 1983 and disposal authorities approved by the National Archives of Australia.
Returning files
Once you no longer have an immediate or current use for a file you are able to return it to University Records for storage (student files should be sent to Student Records - 121 Marcus Clarke St).
To return files just send them to University Records in the internal mail. Once they are received by University Records they are returned in the system and their location updated. They are then filed in the compactus ready for the next time you need to use them.
People files must be returned in a sealed envelope to protect people's privacy.
Please ensure that all paperwork is firmly secured in the file before returning it to University Records for storage. This ensures that no paperwork is accidentally lost or placed on the incorrect file should the paperwork fall out of the file.
