University Records
Retrieve a file
ANU files are stored in various locations around the campus and Canberra. The majority of files created and stored by ANU must be requested online via the Central Records System (CRS). If you do not have access to the system you will not be able to request the files you need to perform your duties.
How to request files in the Central Records System (CRS)
Files that are located on campus and in temporary storage must be requested via the Central Records System (CRS).
To request a file you will need to locate it in CRS, click on the request icon and complete the online request form.
If the request icon does not appear against your file it means that the file cannot be requested via the system. Reasons for this may be:
- the file is located in University Archives (email university.archives@anu.edu.au);
- the file has been converted from an old file number to a more recent Uni ID number; or
- the file has been destroyed using an approved disposal authority.
Service levels
File requests have two levels of priority that you can choose: urgent and routine.
Urgent file requests are actioned within 30 minutes if the file is onsite. You will be notified as soon as the file is ready for collection. Urgent file requests must be collected from University Records.
Routine requests are actioned within the day the request is received. If you request the file in the AM it will be ready for collection by the PM (if internal mail is the delivery option it may take longer to get to you) and vice versa. If you opt to collect the file from University Records, you will be notified by email when it is ready for collection.
